Journey Through Southern Xinjiang, 2025

In 2025, I spent the Spring Festival, a traditional festival for the Han people, in southern Xinjiang. During this time, I spent 20 days wandering the vast land between the Tianshan Mountains and the Kunlun Mountains, communicating with people, and eating local products and food. I was keen to observe how Islam, a dense green plant, grew and changed in the crimson soil around the desert. The changes in this process were a bit slow, but very easy to detect.

2025年，我在南疆过汉族人的传统节日——春节，期间我有20天的时间游走于天山和昆仑山之间的广袤大地上，跟人们交流，并且吃这里的土产和食物。我热衷于观察沙漠周缘，伊斯兰教这株枝桠茂密的绿色植物如何在干旱的红色土壤中生长和变化。这个过程的变化有点缓慢，却极易察觉。
